Compost your Compost
4WKS Coffee realised that a compostable product isn't truly compostable if the consumer doesn't composts it.

The 4WKS Coffee team packs freshly roasted coffee into compostable coffee capsules with a quiet passion. While chatting to Oli Pretorius, co-founder of 4WKS Coffee, one sentiment stood out: A product is only compostable if the consumer actually composts it.
Most compostable products in the world get thrown into regular bins. Because of this, they find themselves producing methane in a landfill like all other food waste, never actually breaking down as designed and intended. It became clear to 4WKS that their responsibility isn’t simply to create compostable products with delicious coffee inside; they need to change how people act in response to their compostable products.
“People need to buy with the intention of treating the pods correctly,” Oli says. “We need people to either return the pods in the provided pod pouch or compost them at home.”
“If we can change a person’s daily coffee habit, we can create an exponential difference. For example, if someone starts their day by correctly disposing of their compostable coffee pod, they might look at everything else throughout their day differently.”
According to Oli, being a force for good is the main reason every single company should be in business. (And, what’s better, the fresh coffee pods taste great too).
