Le Quote π£
βSurround yourself with the most inspirational and motivational people you can, watch yourself grow (it will be painful), and show up as your most influential self. Engage. Have fun. Donβt forget to have fun. Itβs quite a ride, so having fun helps.β
β Celeste Williams.
Le Word π¬
feel (verb) be aware of (a person or object) through touching or being touched; perceive through touch, emotion, or instinct.
Le Shoutout π§£
Over the last two weeks, I helped write a script for a video.
With the deadline looming, we were near the end.
βFinal changes ready for approval,β I commented on the Google Doc before closing my laptop and heading to bed.
The next morning, a Google Docs notification pinged from my phone.
*ping*
βEish,β I said to myself, nervous to open the doc.
I took a deep breath and
*opens the doc*
There, amidst everything else, was a comment from Kerry:
Simple, yet effective, the β!β changed the whole sentence.
It changed the whole paragraph, too.
Sometimes, replacing β.β with β!β is all it takes.
And the same applies to you.
Shoutout Kerry.
Wait, letβs try that againβ¦
Shoutout Kerry!
Le Story βοΈ
Last week, Meg Wright messaged me from a hospital bed.
I asked if she had any reflections from the hospital stay.
The following story comes from the horseβs mouth.
A few nights ago, I was admitted to the hospital.
A lively nurse walked in with a warm smile on her face and some plastic tubes in her hand.
βIβm Jama,β she said, pulling a seat up to my bed.
βHi Jama, thanks so much,β I replied, pushing my sleeve up in preparation for my IV.
Jama took my arm in her hands and inspected my veins. She frowned.
βHmm,β she mused.
βHmm?β
βYou have nice obvious veins,β she said. βBut theyβre curving in all directions.β
βSorry about that,β I said, feeling sheepish π
Jama chuckled.
βI see pathology has used your best vein already,β she said, eyeing the cotton ball on my arm.
She gently twisted my arm inwards and ran a finger along my outer forearm.
βThere?β I asked, pointing to a vein that had never been used before.
βJa, itβs also curved, but letβs give it a go,β she nodded.
Jama tightened the strap around my upper arm, wiped me down with disinfectant, and pierced my skin.
I tried not to wince.
βWinning?β I asked.
She shook her head.
βLet me try again with a smaller one,β she said, withdrawing the needle.
Jama repeated the process, this time with a thinner needle.
She smiled: success.
βHow did you know where to put the needle?β I asked. βI canβt even see that vein myself!β
βIβve worked with a lot of lupus patients. You guys donβt have easy veins! After a while, you learn to take your time and feel where to go,β she said.
βThank you so much, Jama,β I said.
βYouβre welcome, sana. Iβll check in again a bit later.β
A few days later, I was discharged. My rheumatologist prescribed me a new immunosuppressant and a warning to take my diagnosis more seriously.
My life, until now, has been driven by a relentless desire to achieve my goals as quickly as possible. I know I can still reach those goals, but now Iβm tasked with changing how I get thereβand Iβll be sure to take my time choosing the new path.

Le Question π€
What β.β can you change to β!β this week?
Have a powerful Monday, everyone.
