train (verb) be taught through practice and instruction over a period of time.
Le Shoutout π§£
Last week, the woman in front of me ordered a coffee with oat milk.
βOne coffee with oat milk,β Barista Bradley repeated, tapping on the screen.
βAnd a flat white, please,β she said.
βWill that be with cowβs milk?β Bradley asked.
βYou meanβ¦ real milk,β the man behind us said, grinning.
We all turned around and looked at the man.
βYou guys must get some interesting orders,β the woman laughed, looking back at Bradley.
βSome people mix their milk,β Bradley said. βHalf oat and half normal.β
βSome people bring their own milk!β Barista Gray said from behind the machine.
βYou guys are very obliging,β the woman said.
βItβs cool seeing how different people drink their coffee,β Bradley said.
βAnd how different people start their day,β Robin concluded.
Shoutout to the woman for ordering oat milk that morning.
Le Story βοΈ
Last week, while sitting in the sauna, we were speaking about running.
βWhen I trained for the Cape Town marathon, the furthest I ran was 21km,β one man said.
βI run about 4km every morning, and I have never felt stronger,β another said.
βIf you run 4km every morning, it means you run about 24km every week,β another said, explaining that 21km would, therefore, be easy.
βIf you look at the best marathon runners,β a fourth said, βthey never train by doing marathons.β
βI spoke to Gerda Steyn once,β a fifth said. βShe said if you trained for a marathon by running marathons every day, youβll peak, burn out and injure yourself before the marathon even started.β
βI also spoke to Gerda Steyn once,β a sixth said. βI asked her if she thought Iβd be able to run a marathon. She asked if I had taken energy gels during my half marathon. When I told her I had, she confirmed that I would be able to run a marathon.β
βWhy?β a seventh said.
βShe said that because I had raced prepped for a half marathon, Iβd most likely race prep for a full marathon, and Iβd therefore most likely complete it,β the sixth replied.
Before seven could eat nine, the first man spoke again.
βI donβt know, hey,β he said. βThatβs why I never look at how other people train; we all train in our own ways, and all our bodies require something different.β
Le Neigh from Philosophical Horse π΄
βNeigh?β β Philosophical Horse.
