Le Quote ๐ฃ
โGet some rest.โ โ Joy.
Le Word ๐ฌ
rest (verb) cease work or movement in order to relax, sleep, or recover strength.
Le Shoutout ๐งฃ
On Friday, Mkhuseli Lujabe spoke about tennis balls.
โWe are like tennis balls,โ he said.
โTo bounce high, we need to be thrown down hard.โ
โTo go far, we need to be hit very hard with a racket.โ
He looked around the room and smiled.
To be like a tennis ball, or not to be, that is the question.
Shoutout Mr Lujabe.
Le Snippet ๐
This weekend, while reading Ryan Holidayโs Ego is the Enemy, this section stood out:
โMy friend, a philosopher and martial artist, once gave me a helpful metaphor. He explained that training was like sweeping the floor. Just because youโve done it once doesnโt mean the floor is clean forever. Every day, the dust comes back. Every day we must sweep. The same goes for ego. You would be stunned at what kind of damage dust and dirt can do over time, and how quickly it collects and becomes unmanageable.โ
Then, later that day, I was reading a post on LinkedIn about trusting the process.
โTrusting the process means believing that the small steps you're taking today actually matter (even when it doesnโt feel like it),โ it said.
Immediately, prompted by the sweeping statement above, two other quotes came to mind:
โFaith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains,โ the Bible says, and โThe man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones,โ says Confucius, as quoted by Phil Knight in Shoe Dog.
Combining and remembering everything above will help you trust the process when you have a mountain beside you, a pebble in your hand, and, there, out in front of you, just some scary, wide-open, unknown, empty land.
Le Story โ๏ธ
The other morning, a lady was standing next to her dog in the park.
For some reason, the dog had decided that the middle of the path was the perfect place to stand still.
She looked at her dog, looked at me, shrugged, and laughed at the situation she had found herself in.
โEnjoy the walk!โ I said as I ran past.
โMore like stop,โ she laughed.
I continued running.
She waited a bit until, finally, her dog started moving too.
Le Neigh from Philosophical Horse ๐ด
โNeigh?โ โ Philosophical Horse.
Le Question ๐ค
What sweeping do you need to do today?
