Mid Run Reflections à la Seb Prentice
While running, thoughts have the strange ability to enter our mind. Seb Prentice shares one of his experiences.

I HAD A REALISATION while running the other day. I used to think the whole lesson behind being a student-athlete was that I could be good at multiple things at the same time; I could be a competitive athlete, a student at university and a person with a social life.
My perspective on this has changed: if you want to do something remarkably well, you need to give it undivided focus.
When I reflect on my time at university, I wasn’t a remarkable student, I wasn’t a remarkable rugby player (even though I was a consistent starter and made the team), and I had a decent social life. Upon reflection, this was because I didn’t give any of the activities my undivided attention.
How will I act in response to this realisation? First, I will be more mindful before committing to new things in life. Before saying yes, I will ask myself if the commitment aligns with my purpose, vision and goal of where and who I want to be.
If it doesn’t align with my envisioned direction, I’d probably step back and not take it on.
I want to be remarkably good at impacting people’s attitudes and perceptions toward health and fitness. I want to change how people interact with and appreciate their bodies. I want to show people what their bodies are capable of.
My vessel for making this impact, at the moment, is my social media (@sprenna). But, in the long run, I want to be able to create meaningful change in people’s lives by building a community around health and fitness. I have been putting money away to open a gym focused on a positive training culture and how people SHOW UP to training. I feel like a physical gym space with positive energy and an engaged community is the best way for me to spread my message. People must feel good while training and excited to be in the space.
Contrary to my realisation, I work a desk job unrelated to fitness. I still train the odd client before work, but I want to focus on delivering my message of health and fitness.
Your body is super important. Life is better when you dedicate a whole bunch of time to being healthier, fitter and stronger.
It feels great.
