I live in Newlands. The other day, while parking, I noticed the beautiful rosebush planted next to my parking spot had no flowers. It had no leaves either! It had been pruned.
The same thing happened last year. I returned home to the skeletal remains of a bush that looked far beyond recovery. Yet, a few months later, the bush was in full bloom again.
Clare, the resident gardener in our complex, proves month in and month out that she does, indeed, have green fingers. The prune inflicted on the poor rose bush always looks FAR too aggressive, yet the rose bush always bounces back better than before.
Apparently, without the prune, the rose bush wouldn’t be so extraordinarily beautiful.
Here lies the simple life lesson of the day. Just like the rose bush, we all need a prune every now and then.Â
More importantly, we need to trust the process.
