NEIGH. The other day, I noticed a car’s rearview mirror. It looked utterly bizarre. It was an oval reflection floating in existence.
Neigh. I realised all vehicle rearview mirrors are useless unless you’re sitting in the driver’s seat. A complete understanding of its function blossoms into existence as you lower yourself behind the wheel. It really is ingenious. You can look forwards while looking backwards.
Have you ever started driving with an obstructed rearview mirror?
Disorienting!
Neigh. How many things are like this in life though? Do we as individuals have metaphorical rearview mirrors that allow us to navigate the world better? Do we as individuals have metaphorical rearview mirrors that can get obstructed or bumped out of alignment, disorienting us?
It suddenly became clear to me: we DO have metaphorical rearview mirrors and we NEED to keep them unobstructed and aligned.
The seven real-world daily rearview mirrors that help me navigate the world better are:
1. Enough exercise.
2. Enough sleep.
3. Enough water.
4. Enough correct food.
5. Enough time to think and reflect.
6. Enough human connection.
7. Doing enough to benefit the world (if not the whole world, someone’s world).
It’s not until you consistently implement YOUR daily metaphorical rearview mirrors (and subsequently lose them) that you realise their importance. So, write down YOUR seven (essential) metaphorical rearview mirrors. Then, once you have your list, start implementing them.
Neigh. But what do I know?
I am just a Philosophical Horse.
