Le Quote 🗣
“No matter who you are or where you are, you have the opportunity to make someone’s day through the smallest of actions.” – Meeka-eel.
Le Word 💬
mop (verb) wipe sweat or tears from (one’s face or eyes).
Le Shoutout 🧣
Last week, I moved out of the apartment block that harboured me over the last three years.
As a result, I am no longer neighbours with Clare, a person who made my day better every time I saw her.
It also means I will no longer drive past William every day, a security guard who made me smile every time we spoke.
It also means I will no longer bump into Alan, Richard, Hannah, Steph, Bianca, Chris, Noah, Maritz, and everyone else who took a few seconds out of their day to chat whenever we crossed paths.
Reflecting on the three years, I realise that the apartment block would have been a completely different place if there had been completely different people, and my life would have been completely different as a result.
It’s a reminder that no matter who you are or where you are, your mere existence affects everyone else’s life around you.
Shoutout to those little moments that add up to make something big.
Le Story ✍️
Every day at 14h01, my phone plays Halo by Beyoncé.
Along with the song, a quote pops up on the screen:
“Don’t worry, it’s all going to work out.” – Elius
Yesterday, while replacing my watch at the Waterfront, my phone started playing Halo by Beyoncé. The salesman looked at me with intrigue.
“This message is for you,” I told him as I took my phone out of my pocket.
I showed him the screen. He nodded.
“I needed that today,” he said.
“Why?” I asked.
He told me why, and then he continued:
“Bru, not many people are positive these days. No one greets each other on the streets or thinks about what other people might be going through in their own lives, so I appreciate that.”
All good, good sir.
To everyone reading Le Weekly this morning, I extend the 14h01 message to you, too.
“Don’t worry, it’s all going to work out.” – Elius
After chatting with the watch salesman for about half an hour (literally), it was time to say goodbye.
“I need to go,” I said.
“Safe, bra,” he responded.
We gave each other a fist bump.
Before heading home, I popped into a shoe shop for no particular reason. While browsing the running shoes, I heard an Afrikaans lady ask the shoe salesman about the new Asics shoes. Fortuitously, I was wearing last year’s shoe model, so the shoe salesman pointed at my feet to compare the two.
The Afrikaans lady seemed happy enough with the shoe salesman’s demonstration. With the new information safely in her brain, she thanked him, looked at me and said, “Lekker oefen!”
(Lekker oefen = train well).
She turned around and left the shop. I caught the shoe salesman’s eye and we both chuckled, wondering what training she was wishing us luck for.
I’d like to think she was wishing us luck for the marathon called life, where every second of every day trains you for the second that follows.
So, lekker oefen to you too, good ma’am. I hope the Ascics come in handy.
When I got home from the Waterfront, I was inspired to go oefen.
I arrived at Virgin Active, did my exercises, returned to the changing room, and entered the sauna at around 19h00.
In the sauna, the man next to me sighed.
“Work tomorrow,” he said, shaking his head.
“Indeed,” I agreed.
We both nodded solemnly at each other before slowly looking forward again.
Outside the sauna, the cleaner on duty mopped the floor.
Le Neigh from Philosophical Horse 🐴
“Neigh.” – Philosophical Horse.
Le Question 🤔
If you could have a song & quote combination pop up on your phone at the same time every day, what would it be?
Have a great Monday, everyone!

I enjoyed this longer Le Story, thank you for a lovely read Mike! I would have to choose I'm a Believer by Smashmouth because it's intense beginning always gives me a kick of adrenaline. Couldn't choose one quote, I'm always looking for new ones
