Last week, I entered the gym for a late-night session.
I walked upstairs to work out when Clint (the floor manager who always makes me chuckle) made me chuckle.
After the workout, I walked downstairs to leave when Sofiyyah (the receptionist who always makes me laugh) made me laugh.
I don’t just go to the gym to lift weights; I go to the gym to lift my spirit, too.
Shoutout Clint and Sofiyyah.

Last year, an elderly man was walking towards me in the park.
He walked with his head down low and wore a bucket hat.
As he drew nearer, I braced myself to greet him.
“Morning, how are you?” I asked.
“Blessed,” he answered, looking up with a glinting smile.
I remember feeling rather mused by his answer. I wondered what made him feel that way that day.
A few months later, an elderly man was walking towards me in the park.
He walked with his head down low and wore a bucket hat.
As he drew nearer, I braced myself to greet him.
“Morning, how are you?” I asked.
“Blessed,” he answered, looking up with a glinting smile.
I chuckled. It was the exact same man, and we had the exact same interaction.
I remember feeling rather mused by his answer. I wondered what made him feel that way that day.
Last week, an elderly man was walking towards me as I reversed out of my gate.
He walked with his head down low and wore a bucket hat.
As he drew nearer, I braced myself to greet him out my window.
“Morning, how are you?” I asked.
“Blessed,” he answered, looking up with a glinting smile. “And how are you?” he asked.
Without hesitation and with complete honesty, I looked at him in his eyes and said, “Blessed.”
This time around, he was the one who seemed quite amused by my answer.
We gave each other smiles with glints in our eyes and continued in the directions we were going.

In Le Scarf’s first print edition in 2022, a coffee brand called 4WKS was featured. Every month, 4WKS sends out a “habit card” to everyone who orders their coffee. Each card has five printed on it that attempt to help shift habits and culture.
Last month, we agreed to include their weekly habits in Le Weekly.
So, introducing the first prompt that will hopefully bring something about:
#1: Make yourself a coffee, take a pen and paper, and list what you would do if you weren’t afraid. Keep adding to the list during the week.

As I seem to be looking after my daughter’s kitties with pleasure more frequently than usual, the first thing I say in the morning is “hello my darlings”.
And as a mother and now a granny, that makes me smile remembering the days of a house full of small children. I am also blessed.
