Le Quote π£
βYou can choose what you do, but you canβt choose what you like to do.β β Chante Harding.
Le Word π¬
hammer (noun) a tool with a heavy metal head mounted at right angles at the end of a handle, used for jobs such as breaking things and driving in nails.
Le Shoutout π§£
Yesterday, while watching the Springbok rugby, I shed a tear.
For some reason, the Scottish national anthem struck a chord.
On the stadium roof, a man in a kilt played the bagpipes.
On the field, the rest of the band played their tune.
Bagpipes, drums, and about 30,000 people singing their national anthem.
It wasnβt hard to imagine the same scene happening hundreds of years ago.
Right in front of our eyes, history came to life.
Then, as usual, halfway through the anthem, the music stopped while the crowd kept singing.
And it was beautiful.
Itβs a lesson in keeping things simple, authentic, iconic and true to your brand.
Shoutout to the Scottish pipe band.
Le Story βοΈ
Earlier this year, a founder of a local media company told a student, βWhen youβre a hammer, everything is a nail.β
It was a caution.
This weekend, the same student was trying to help another student navigate a situation in their life. To do this, he shared the βship mechanicβ story.
One day, a giant shipβs engine broke down.
After searching far and wide, a highly experienced ship mechanic was called in to fix it.
He inspected the engine from top to bottom.
After seeing everything, he opened his bag and pulled out a small hammer.
He walked up to the engine, tapped a very specific part, and the engine came to life.
A week later, the ship mechanic invoiced the ship owner $20,000.
βWhat?!β said the owner. βBut all you did was tap the engine with a hammer!β
βYes, sir,β the mechanic said. βIt took 2 minutes to tap the engine with the hammer but twenty years to learn where to tap it.β
When a hammer is on its own, it sees everything as a nail, but when itβs in the hands of a master mechanic, it hits exactly where it needs to hit, helping entire engines come to life.

Iβve got a beautiful toolbox, but itβs only about a quarter full. Out of those, Iβm only confident in knowing exactly how to use two of them. But that excites me; Iβve got people in my life who are teaching me how to use the remaining tools, and space in the box to add new ones Iβll discover in years to come. Luckily, one out of the two tools Iβm mastering is patience.
